A&B Promotes Ching to Senior Vice President

HONOLULU--(BUSINESS WIRE)--June 29, 2007--Meredith J. Ching has been promoted to senior vice president for Alexander & Baldwin, Inc. (NASDAQ:ALEX), effective June 28, 2007. She previously was vice president, government and community relations, having been promoted to that position in 1992. She continues to report to A&B Chairman and CEO Allen Doane and will retain responsibility for these functions.

"This promotion is a fitting recognition for Meredith's contributions to A&B and the community," said Doane. "She is a key member of our senior management team and is involved in numerous community causes. Meredith provides leadership in all that we do in Hawaii and we look forward to her continuing contributions."

Ching holds a master's degree in business administration from the University of California, Los Angeles and earned her bachelor's degree in civil engineering from Stanford University.

Ching joined A&B in 1982 and was promoted to vice president, corporate natural resources in 1988. She has retained responsibilities related to the company's natural resource assets since then. Three years later, she added government affairs to her responsibilities and, in 1992, Ching was also given the corporation's community relations functions. Prior to joining A&B, she was a financial analyst for Dillingham Corporation.

Ching has held numerous community and professional leadership positions, and is a board officer for the Hawaii Nature Center; a board member and past president of the Land Use Research Foundation; a board member and past president of the Hawaii Resort Developers Conference; and a member of the Urban Land Institute Hawaii District Council's Executive Committee.

Her community involvement currently includes the boards of the Hawaii Nature Center, Nature Conservancy of Hawaii, YMCA, and Kapiolani Health Foundation. Past community involvement includes service on the boards of Palama Settlement, Neighborhood Justice Center, Child and Family Service, and HMSA.

Her government service activities include current service on the State of Hawaii Commission on Water Resource Management, and past service on the State Board of Agriculture, City & County of Honolulu Charter Commission, Mayor's Task Force to develop the Pacific Nations Center and the Governor's Task Force on the Department of Environmental Protection.
